Reduce Emissions From Diesels (Go RED!)
The Reduce Emissions from Diesels School Edition program, also known as the Go RED! School Edition program, is intended to assist eligible public and private schools in Arkansas with diesel emission reduction projects. Applications will be accepted on a monthly rolling basis until November 30, 2026, or until funding is depleted. Applications are due on the last day of each month, with awards announced monthly.
California Funding and Advisory Opportunities
Cal Fleet Advisor provides no-cost expert assistance and tailored solutions to help California school districts deploy zero-emission school buses with confidence, offering an interactive virtual forum and one-on-one personalized assistance from an advisor.
CEC Reliable Electric Charging for Eligible School Bus Sites
The California Energy Commission (CEC) has announced the availability of up to $22 million in grant funds for projects that will install EV charging infrastructure for ESBs. This is a multi-funding lane grant solicitation (first come, first served and competitive), due August 31, 2026.
The Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) reopened December 16, 2025, and offers point-of-sale discounts to make advanced-technology vehicles more affordable for fleets. Vouchers are available for public school bus fleets; small fleets are eligible for additional funding.
California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard Program allows users and producers of clean energy, including ESB fleets, to earn credits for their emissions reductions, and emitters can purchase those credits to offset their emissions.
MBARD Zero Emission School Bus Program
The Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) is offering school districts, offices of education, and public charter schools of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties an opportunity to participate in the Zero Emission School Bus Program and receive up to $400,000 for a zero-emission school bus and up to $20,000 for EV infrastructure.
PG&E EV Fleet Advisory Services
PG&E’s EV Fleet Advisory Services offers one-on-one guidance to help fleets switch their medium- and heavy-duty vehicles to EVs. Applications will remain open until December 2026.
PG&E’s EV Fleet Program offers make-ready incentives and charger rebates. Through the EV Fleet Program, PG&E will construct, own and maintain all electrical infrastructure up to the customer’s meter. The program also supports level 2 and DC fast chargers in a variety of installation configurations based on a fleet operator’s needs through rebates.
SDG&E Power Your Drive for Fleets
San Diego Gas and Electric’s (SDG&E’s) Power Your Drive for Fleets program connects fleets with resources, fleet-friendly charging rates, and financial incentives to easily and cost-effectively design and install the charging infrastructure needed for medium- and heavy-duty electric fleets.
SCE Transportation Electrification Advisory Services
SCE offers fleet electrification assistance, grant assistance, and EV readiness studies.
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) offers EV charger incentives for Level 2, DC chargers, and infrastructure upgrades through its commercial EV program.
Colorado Funding and Advisory Services
The Colorado Energy Office’s Fleet-ZERO EV Charging Grant offers funding for EV charging to support private depot charging; shared, public, and semi-public fleet charging; and charging-as-a-service. Funding levels vary. The Spring Standard Application is open June 1 through July 17, 2026, and offers funding up to $500,000 for DC fast charging projects. Rolling applications are available year-round for qualifying entities requesting $50,000 or less.
Xcel Commercial EV Infrastructure Rebate
Xcel Energy offers commercial customers infrastructure, charger, and new construction rebates. Applications are open until July 23, 2026, at 4 p.m. MT.
Xcel’s Fleet Electrification Advisory Program (FEAP) offers low-to-no-cost services to help fleets determine if electrification fits their needs.
Connecticut Advisory and Financing Opportunities
Fleet Electrification Accelerator Program

Connecticut Green Bank ESB Financing
The Green Bank can provide low-interest, long-term financing for any Connecticut ESB project, with additional opportunities for projects located in distressed municipalities and underserved communities.
CT PURA Electric School Bus Charging Infrastructure Demonstration Program
Applications are now open for the PURA Electric School Bus Charging Infrastructure Demonstration Program, which will fund up to four projects to support ESB deployment in Connecticut. The program offers rebates covering customer-side make-ready infrastructure and EV charging equipment, with awards available to eligible school districts and bus fleets serving disadvantaged communities and committing to electrifying at least two school buses. A recording of the kickoff webinar is available for viewing. CALSTART will host a webinar and office hours on June 4th, June 25th, and July 9th to support applicants. Applications are due July 15, 2026.
Georgia Funding
Georgia Power Make-Ready Infrastructure Program
Georgia Power offers up to $300,000 in make-ready funding and support for public-facing fleets (including public school buses) to develop the electrical infrastructure needed for EV charger installations. This includes working with the fleet to design, construct, and perform ongoing maintenance on electrical equipment up to, but not including, chargers.
Hawaii Funding
Hawaii Diesel Replacement Rebate Program
The Diesel Replacement Rebate program provides rebates to replace medium- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles with new, battery-electric equivalents. Rebates will be awarded on a rolling basis through September 30, 2028, or until funds are exhausted.
Illinois Funding
ComEd Business and Public Sector EV Rebate Program
The ComEd Business and Public Sector EV Rebate Program will continue from 2026 through 2028 as ComEd invests an additional $82 million to offer rebates for the purchase or lease of new and pre-owned fleet EVs of all weight classes. Base rebates for ESBs range from $120,00 to $130,00 per vehicle. Additional funding is available for districts operating in Low-Income or Equity-Investment-Eligible communities. Applications submitted after May 20, 2026, will be added to the waitlist.
Maryland Funding
FY27 Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicle Grant Program
The Maryland Energy Administration is offering grants to purchase or lease qualifying zero-emission vehicles and heavy equipment for commercial or industrial use, including ESBs. Up to 75% of the incremental cost of eligible vehicles and charging equipment may be reimbursable under this program. The anticipated application deadline is September 29, 2026.
Massachusetts Funding and Advisory Opportunities
School Bus: Advisory Services Program
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s School Bus Advisory Services Program offers free fleet electrification planning support to public school districts. While this program does not provide funding, it helps districts and third-party fleet operators advance toward school bus electrification.
The Massachusetts Offers Rebates for EVs (MOR-EV) Program provides rebates between $10,000–$90,000 for the purchase or lease of eligible medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, including ESBs. Applications must be approved prior to vehicle purchase or lease, and rebates can be combined with federal funding and tax credits. Buses operating in environmental justice communities may be eligible for additional funding.
National Grid’s Fleet EV Charging Program
National Grid’s Fleet EV Charging Program can provide up to 100% funding of electrical infrastructure costs for all fleet customers, and additional rebates on charging station equipment costs for public fleets. Applications are due by October 1, 2026. 2026 will be the final year of this program.
National Grid’s Fleet Advisory Services
National Grid is partnered with ICF to offer fleet advisory services to publicly owned fleets in National Grid service territory in Massachusetts.
Michigan Funding and Advisory Services
Michigan Diesel Emission Reduction Program
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is offering grants for replacing vehicles with EVs; funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted. School bus replacements may be eligible for reimbursement of 45% of eligible costs.
EGLE Fuel Transformation Program
EGLE offers grants for eligible on- and off-road vehicles and equipment. The program offers up to 100% of the replacement costs for all-electric school bus replacements. To be eligible for replacement, on-road vehicles must be diesel and have an engine model year of 2009 or older. Applications will be accepted and processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all funding has been exhausted.
DTE is offering customers in their service territory rebates of up to $70,000 per DC fast charger and up to $2,500 per port for Level 2 chargers. DTE also offers assistance for public, retail, and private fleet operators looking to electrify.
DTE is offering customers in their service territory access to DTE Electric EV advisors to help assess and understand operational needs.
New Hampshire Funding
2026 New Hampshire Clean Diesel Program
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is making approximately $1,000,000 in remaining EPA Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) funding available for eligible projects that reduce diesel emissions in New Hampshire. Applications are due on the 20th of every month at midnight until all funds have been obligated.
Granite State Clean Fleets Grant Program
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is accepting applications to reduce diesel emissions in the state by providing reimbursement of up to 95% of eligible costs. Approximately $1.5 million of VW Trust funds remains available as of the March 2026 request for proposals. Applications will be accepted on a rolling monthly basis until all funds have been obligated.
New Jersey Funding and Advisory Opportunities
New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program offers incentives for local, state, and nonprofit entities to purchase battery EVs, Level 2 EV charging equipment, and DC fast chargers for their fleets, with award caps based on population and additional bonuses for overburdened municipalities.
ESB Grant Solicitation Round 3
The third round of New Jersey’s ESB Grant Program will provide up to $350,000 per school bus and associated charging infrastructure for applications serving overburdened school districts and up to $320,000 for applicants not serving overburdened school districts. Districts and contractors awarded under this round will also receive free technical assistance and a personalized Fleet Electrification Roadmap through the New Jersey Fleet Advisor Program. Applications close August 28, 2026.
WorkClean Diesel Modernization Program
The New Jersey Bureau of Mobile Sources’ Diesel Modernization Program uses state and federal funding to replace marine engines and non-road diesel vehicles — from ferry vessels to backhoe loaders and bulldozers. Contingent upon open solicitations, the program also works with municipalities and private entities to electrify on-road diesel vehicles.
New Jersey Fleet Advisor will provide free technical assistance to 15 fleets interested in learning how to transition to zero-emission vehicles, including a personalized fleet electrification roadmap document. School bus fleets awarded under the second round of the New Jersey ESB Program will automatically be enrolled in the New Jersey Fleet Advisor Program.
New Mexico Funding
The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has announced that their FY22 and FY24 Diesel Emission Reduction Act Grant programs are open for applications. NMED may reimburse up to 45% of the cost of a new all-electric replacement vehicle, including charging infrastructure. Scrappage is required.
Public School Facilities Authority ESB Program
The New Mexico Public School Facilities Authority’s Electric Bus Program helps school districts electrify their fleets by providing funding to support the transition from diesel to ESBs, including charging equipment, staff training, and technical support. Applications will be accepted across three cycles spanning May 18, 2026, through August 19, 2026.
New York Funding and Advisory Opportunities
NY School Bus Incentive Program
The New York State Legislature mandates that all school buses purchased after 2027 must be electric, supported by $500 million from the Environmental Bond Act, facilitating the transition through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA’s) NY School Bus Incentive Program. This now includes infrastructure funding.
Con Edison’s Medium- and Heavy-Duty Make-Ready Pilot Program
Con Edison’s Medium- and Heavy-Duty Make-Ready Pilot Program offers incentives covering up to 90% of utility-side and up to 50% of customer-side make-ready costs for qualifying sites installing EV supply equipment to serve medium- and heavy-duty fleets (Level 2 and DC fast-charging eligible).
PSEG Long Island’s Fleet Make-Ready Program
PSEG Long Island’s Fleet Make-Ready Program provides infrastructure incentives that can cover up to $150,000 for public transportation, $120,000 for public fleets, and $70,000 for private fleets. Projects located in disadvantaged communities may receive enhanced incentives.
National Grid’s EV Charging Station Make-Ready Program – Upstate New York
National Grid’s Make-Ready Program can fund up to 100% of the electric infrastructure costs associated with installing electric vehicle charging for eligible projects.
National Grid Fleet Assessment Services – Upstate New York
National Grid can help fleets determine the electricity available at their depots and the potential impacts or savings they can expect by electrifying their fleets through their Fleet Assessment Services.
NYSERDA Fleet Electrification Planning
NYSERDA can connect school districts and third-party bus operators with experts and funding to perform fleet electrification plans at low or no cost. Fleets that complete an electrification plan can unlock $30,000 in additional New York School Bus Incentive Program (NYSBIP) Charging Voucher Funds per bus and an increased cap on the number of NYSBIP School Bus Vouchers for which an operator can apply.
North and South Carolina Funding
Duke Energy Commercial Charger Prep Credit
Duke Energy Carolinas offers a Commercial Charger Prep Credit designed to help commercial customers (including school districts) cover eligible costs of preparing their sites for EV chargers. This credit does not cover the costs of permitting, charger installation, or the EV chargers themselves.
Oregon Funding
Oregon Zero-Emissions Rebates for Oregon Fleets
The Oregon Department of Environmental quality is offering rebates to support the purchase of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Rebates ranging from $85,000 to $120,000 are available for ESB purchases based on weight class.
Portland General Electric (PGE) is offering V2G incentives to help offset the cost of installing V2G-capable infrastructure and chargers for ESB fleets so districts can move forward with confidence as they electrify. This program offers up to $10,000 per make-ready port and up to $50,000 per charger.
Pacific Power Electric Fleet Make-Ready Pilot Program
Pacific Power’s Fleet Make-Ready pilot program offers advisory services and tailor-made incentives to support the design and construction costs associated with behind-the-meter EV charging infrastructure. Qualified participants can receive a custom incentive covering project design, engineering, permitting, and construction costs for their electrical infrastructure and installation of EV service equipment (not including the actual charger).
Pacific Power Electric Fleet Planning and Technical Assistance
Pacific Power offers technical assistance through an on-site feasibility analysis and customized technical fleet advising to help fleets evaluate options and costs.
Pennsylvania Funding and Advisory Services
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Program provides financial assistance for innovative advanced fuel and vehicle technology projects. ESB projects are eligible to receive up to $100,000 toward the incremental cost of the bus, based on battery capacity and vehicle class. Funding for charging infrastructure is also available. Applicants are eligible for up to $300,000 per application. Applications close October 7, 2026, at 12 p.m. ET.
Duquesne Light Company (DLC) offers a rebate to commercial, municipal, and nonprofit fleets for up to 50% of the cost to purchase eligible Level 2 or DC fast-charging stations. Eligible EV charging stations must be networked, and participants must share charging station usage data with DLC.
DLC Electric Fleet Advisory Service
DLC offers advisory services to fleets to analyze electrification opportunities. Eligible applicants must be DLC customers and include any commercial, municipal, or nonprofit organization with light-, medium-, or heavy-duty fleet vehicles.
Tennessee Funding and Advisory Opportunities
Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program
The State of Tennessee Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Replacement Grant Program has $4.3 million in VW Settlement funding available for eligible medium- and heavy-duty alternate-fueled and/or all-electric replacement vehicle projects, including ESBs. All-electric project requests have a maximum grant request of $3,000,000. Applications are due August 21, 2026.
Texas Funding and Advisory Opportunities
Texas Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Program
This program offers grants to replace or repower eligible diesel-fueled vehicles with all-electric models, including support for necessary charging infrastructure. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis; the final deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. CT on August 31, 2026, unless the program is closed early due to demand.
AEP Texas EVs for Your Business
AEP Texas offers advisory services for fleets to analyze vehicle electrification opportunities. Eligible applicants must be AEP Texas fleet customers that own and operate trucks, forklifts, buses, or passenger vehicles.
Utah Funding
Through the Utah Clean School Bus Program, $54 million will be available for Utah public school districts to replace older combustion-engine buses with electric alternatives. Funding includes free ESB pilot projects and reimbursements for larger projects of 10 or more buses. Scrappage is required.
The Utah Clean Fleet Program, funded through DERA, is a diesel replacement program providing reimbursement of up to 45% of the cost of new all-electric school buses and charging equipment (including installation). Scrappage is required.
Vermont Funding
2026 Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust
The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking applications for EV replacement or repower projects. Up to $5,909,575 is available for project work. Applications will be accepted on a monthly rolling basis until funding is depleted. Applications are due on the last day of each month, with awards announced monthly.
Virginia Funding
CMAQ Vehicle Conversion Incentive Program
The Virginia Department of Energy, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Transportation, offers state agencies and local governments in current or former specific air quality nonattainment, ozone attainment, and/or maintenance areas reimbursement of up to $10,000 for incremental costs to transition to alternative fuels.
Washington Funding and Advisory Opportunities
Breaking Barriers Collaborative ESB Accelerator
The ESB Accelerator is a hands-on, cohort-based program that equips school districts in Washington State with the knowledge, tools, and networks to transition to an ESB fleet. There are currently not any upcoming ESB Accelerator cohorts; school districts are encouraged to reach out to discuss future programming.
Wyoming Funding
Wyoming School Bus Replacement Program
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality is accepting applications for its Diesel Replacement Program, through which diesel school buses with engine model years 2004–2009 may be eligible for replacement with newer model diesel vehicles or alternative fuel vehicles. Participants will receive reimbursement for 25% of the final purchase price of the vehicle.
